the curious curator; or make this classroom run - on espresso?!

Curating a classroom where I can do all of the things I have said I am going to do in the blog alone as a teacher already has me stressed. Either that or it's the 2 cups of coffee and the insane amount of things I need to check off of my list before I go back to work on the 19th. Of course I will be bringing an espresso machine to my classroom, like that even needed to be said. duh.

One thing I love about the career of teaching is summers off, only the last 2 years the summer have felt too short. Note to self - google school districts with the longest summer vacations - inside thought "as if that will help me with the 10lbs of you know what in my 5lb bag"... rolls eyes at self.

Five resources I will be using in my classroom this year are:

1. Our online curriculum and with it, this amazing tutorial about how to use it and access it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B9rweV1_O4

2. Welcome to Meme Monday - where we take a work of art from our current unit and give it a caption. https://thunderdungeon.com/2024/11/10/classical-art-memes-11/ the appropriate example only of course

3. In an effort to begin teaching the skills of citizen journalism, I may use the following resources< as this feels particularly critical https://www.cip.uw.edu/

4. In an effort to show my students what and why https://ospi.k12.wa.us/sites/default/files/2023-02/ss-standards-2019_grades-6-8_ss-skills.pdf

5. And in an effort to be fun and to build in rewards and break days https://www.weareteachers.com/historical-movies/

This is not even close to what I will be using in the entirety, but its a start and a good idea of where my head has been at on the eve of returning to the classroom.

  1. Chloe! I hope your first day back in the classroom was joyfully uneventful. Your candid perspective made me laugh, and especially look forward to having my own classroom one day where I can bring my own sweet treats to make the long days exciting.

I'm definitely snatching some of these resources and saving them to my "gems from GFU" google doc.
